The first band to grace the stage tonight is Don Broco, who take to the stage with insane levels of energy. The band play a very short set but still manage to incite a circle pit and even get a wall of death during the very first song. It’s clear from this performance that this…
Local band Colours To Shame take to the stage shortly after doors open, there’s not much of a crowd, but the band still put on the best show they can. The two guitarists are the best thing about the band, shredding their way through a short set. [6] Up next are another local band What’s…
Kamelot are, in my opinion, one of the best power metal bands going, up there with the legendary ones such as Blind Guardian. I would never, under normal circumstances, miss a live show of theirs without a very good reason. However, it was announced several months ago that singer Roy Khan would be taking this…
After instantly forgettable local band Sintonic [1] we have the hotly tipped Romeo Must Die. To say this band were energetic would be a massive understatement. Vocalist Adam bounced around the stage like a mad man for almost the entire 45 minute set, only stopping to hang from the railings on the ceiling and scream…
Although tonight was being looked forward to with great excitement, it didn’t start too well. My camera was left in the car and we were already in a rush, then we turn up at the venue and have the fiasco of finding out that the guestlist spot was non-existent, only to find out later that…
The crowd was very sparse indeed when Trenchhead took to the stage. It isn’t exactly rare for the first band on to have a thin crowd, and it didn’t help that Trenchhead’s music was a particularly uninteresting variant of slam. The songs had little variation, and it didn’t help that the band seemed to take…
After the departure of long time member and once lead guitarist/lead vocalist Timo Tolkki, it wasn’t an unreasonable thought to question the future of Stratovarius. 2009’s Polaris – the first album of the bands career not to feature Tolkki – was the sound of a rejuvenated band hitting some much needed form. Now, on their 13th…
I remember it well. I was driving home one Monday night, via the fish & chip shop as I’m a total health freak, and thought I’d try out the new ‘concept’ album from The Sword. The shiny new disc was duly inserted into the player and there it lived for a solid 5 days. I…
Ok, so we’re in June and this came out in March but this bad boy from Black Breath must have sneaked its way past me. Thankfully all is not lost as it has now found its way into my ears and what an aural sensation that is. Sonically this is nothing short of devastating, Kurt…
Back in 2008, The More I See released ‘The Unholy Feast’ a beast of an album that was hands down my album of the year, an album so good in fact that it retained it’s title with me for 2009. So now in 2010 with a fresh line-up of ridiculously young musicians TMIS is back…
Fallen Martyr proudly present their new album – The Six Roots Of True Will. ‘If you haven’t heard this sickening record yet, which is truly a breath of fresh air in an industry so heavily saturated with less than stellar carbon copies, you are missing out on something special. This is melodic heavy metal with…
It’s difficult to describe the sound of Converge. From their first inception almost 20 years ago they have been producing aggressive music and never swaying from their initial vision. Whereas many bands deliver the standard pre release boasting about how ‘the new album is far heavier, our best work yet, the album we’ve always wanted…
